Our course designs are adult, but even young students can benefit from attending our courses. Ask our consultants for further advice.

How big are the classes?
Typically, between ten and twenty students. Smaller classes pay more. Of course.

Can I take an exam at Studieskolen?
In principle no - no. Danish law doesn’t allow Studieskolen to administer exams in most subjects. But we run preparatory classes for them. We have exams for students in mathematics, chemistry, and Cambridge English Exams. Satisfactory results can be used as qualifications for some courses of study.

How can I get a course certificate?
Well, if you turn up more than 80% of the time, all you need to do is ask your teacher for it or phone our office, and we will gladly send you the certificate on completion of the course.

How do I find my level?
First read the course descriptions of your subject. Some major languages offer online rough-guide placement tests (click on Language tests online). To see times and dates for our free, more comprehensive placement tests, check individual languages. If the course requires a book, you can also look at it at a bookshop or library to get an idea of your level. Lastly, you can contact our consultants for placement advice.

When do the next courses start?
Studieskolen starts new classes six times a year – i.e. about every nine weeks. See current course starts under Practical information.

Enrol as soon as you can. So your class isn’t full already.

How do I enrol for a course?
Online enrolment with Dankort is real easy: Click on Courses, then on ENROL / TILMELD to the right of your course and fill in the form as required. For other ways to enrol, click on Practical information.

I'm a State Education Fund (S.U.) student, so do I pay fixed fee or subsidy rate on registration?
As a State Education Fund student, you’re entitled to a lower course fee. But online registration requires fixed fee payment. So this is how to for you: Pay the full fixed fee online. Send us a copy of your State Education Fund Receipt and the registration number of your course. Studieskolen will then send you a check for the difference.

What is IELTS?
IELTS is the "International English Language Testing System". The test is held in Copenhagen and Aarhus and is available minimum once a month. The test results are ready 14 days after the test date. IELTS in Denmark is managed by EDU Danmark.

Can I learn how to write English?
We focus mainly on spoken English but do offer a course in written English. Exam-preparation courses such as Cambridge First Certificate, Certificate in Advanced English and Certificate of Proficiency as well as English for Academic Purposes all include training in written English.

What do the gymnasium levels A, B and C correspond to at Studieskolen?
A level corresponds to level 14/15. B level corresponds to level 11. C level corresponds to level 9. Although this is generally true, other factors are relevant for placement, such as exam results and current familiarity with the language.

Can I take an A, B or C level examination at Studieskolen?
Studieskolen does not examine students in English. However, you can obtain a certificate at the end of the course if you have attended at least 80% of the lessons. Certain institutions of higher learning recognize our courses, but you should ask the institution in question before enrolling at Studieskolen.

How many courses must I attend before I can sit for a Cambridge examination?
It all depends on your language skills when you start. However, most Cambridge-examination students take more than one course.

Why do some courses cost more than others?
The price mainly depends on the number of lessons. In addition, some classes are limited to 8 or14 students. Fewer students means more intensive learning but also higher prices than for courses with up to 21 students.

Does Studieskolen offer the same selection of courses all year?
Course selection is greatest two times a year, in September and February. Studieskolen offers fewer new courses in November and April. At the end of June and the beginning of August, we offer a small of number of intensive summer courses.

Can I be sure that my class will continue in the following programme?
In principle, most classes continue. However, this depends on the number of students enrolled and on the time of year.

If I don't speak much English, should I sign up for English 1?
No, English 1 is for beginners. If you are unsure of your level, take our placement test before course start. The test is free and you are under no obligation to enrol. You can also contact our language consultant Mette Møller Christensen at 33 18 79 39 or memc@studieskolen.dk.
